Royal Blood test version / 0.7 for Neonates

Even since we started, we have been trying ourselves and failing and then trying again to make the open world as good as we could for quite a long time… People who played version 0.2 might remember… But after we released version 0.3 in the middle of 2018, our Patreon started to get a really good boost in pledges, a boost that increased even more with the release of version 0.6 for public. For that we are forever grateful. This allowed us to hire professionals specialized in world building and now, after 8 months we are finally able to show it to you… Or to better reword it, to test it with you.
I won’t be saying yet: “Hello this is version 0.8 completely playable and with quests for you to enjoy what our game really is about, because the dungeon level was actually just the tutorial and prologue”. But we are getting there. This is a pre-alpha version of the open world, without any quests and with dialogues that are only meant to quickly initialize an erotic animation. This build is also meant to start a new tradition here for the Royal Blood tier patrons, that ever since we stopped to release the animation demos, weren’t getting rewards. So, this is a “test” build, we are not releasing a complete version like we do every two months for the vampire-tier patrons. This test will allow the Royal Bloods to see earlier the direction we are aiming for, and also to give us the feedback we need to optimize and improve the world before it is ready for a big launch. To make it clear: We don’t have quests here yet, the NPCs are not done and the dialogues are placeholders without audio.
About Patreon rewards:
- Fledglings (1$) and above will receive a bonus reward: Access to our GitLab bot to be able to follow in discord our progress in development.
- Vampire (10$) tier is meant to be the one with the latest stable version of the game. And we release a stable version every 2 months, like we have been doing so far. Where on the release month we focus on finding and fixing bugs to make the game even more stable. One month later, we open this final patch to the Neonates (5$) as well, and focus all our efforts on adding more features to the game, leaving any bug discovered during this period to be fixed on the next release for the Vampires.
- Royal Blood (25$) tier will now have access to the “test” version of the game as explained above. Since the month of a big release to the vampires are usually focused on releasing hotfixes, it might happen for us to release a new “test version” only during the month that the latest release has become available to the Neonates. But that will vary a lot. So let’s just say that we will release new features to be tested every Saturday, unless we had to patch something else for the vampires during the week.
We will be making some changes on the tiers that we don't have any patron. But we'll get in depth about that later.
Now… let’s move on to the change-log:
Version 0.8 (test)
Highlights:
- Initial open world release. We are blocking the available area to explore because the rest of the terrain is not done yet….. So it wouldn’t make for sense if you went to the desert if you wouldn’t find anything but sand there =)
- We separated the armors into 5 slots
- Started to play around with a parrying system, but we had to change focus while doing it so for now… press the right mouse button when you see an incoming attack and the enemy will ‘bounce’. The parrying system will be improved after we finish to add quests and more animations to the sex scenes.
Fixes:
- Equipment that reduces attributes will now be displayed properly
- Fixed typo on toysystem animation menu
- Fixed blood buff logic in a way that even negative values of intelligence would still have some recover.
- The sound that plays when you open a door is now 3d.
- Decreased the volume of footsteps sounds
- Fixed HUD intermittently showing up
Enhancement:
- NPCs can now open doors… Yeah, don’t shut the door at the undead while he follows you or you will get in trouble!
- Improved transitions on the ‘toysystem’ (sex animations) in a way that they start with Kaly holding hands and then you can move on to the others (the missionary don’t have a transition yet)
- Ending the sex animation will go to the blowjob climax placeholder animation (the subtitles are wrong, but we will fix this eventually)
- Many improvements on the back-end code and how actors generate their appearance
- Undead will now have random skin-colors, the female will generate random cloth pieces(giving them more variation)
- Improved loot from NPCs
- Moved many lootable objects to another place. The ‘secret box’ with Merishya’s armor will now have the ‘skimpy version’, later Merishya will give you the normal version after you help her on a quest.
- Started to sketch an improvement on the dialogues where the characters will change their posture based on their emotion.
Features:
- Kalyskah can feed from rats and other small animals that she can grab
- Added several NPCs that have a ‘day cycle’, working during some hours, roaming through the village for a while and then sleeping… (The male doesn’t have clothes or hair yet hehe)
- New enemy: Bear
- New enemy: Wolf
- New weapon: Falchion. There is only one NPC that can drop it on the dungeon, and it has 10% of chance... but don’t worry, if you can’t get it from him, in the future you will be able to buy weapons from Fara =)
- New weapon: Iron sword (The colliders of this one are not good yet, we will improve on the next release on Saturday)
- New “weapon”: Torch.. Eventually Kalyskah will not going to need it, when we add the night vision. But the torch is handy during some part of the night that the landscape can get almost pitch black if you are in the woods on an area that the moon can’t lit.

- New journal menu (press J to open it) and new “Statistics” menu. The statistics is not functional yet, but it will be a way for you to check Kalyskah’s progress on the story… There are typos there too.. don’t be mad with us =(

- Day and night cycle! The day lasts 48 minutes. We haven’t added yet the changes on Kalyskah’s bloodpool and sunlight damage like mentioned on an early post. We will work on it during July.
- Npc Spawner: Rats, wolves and Bears will respawn at the beginning of every day…
Known issues:
- Final dungeon boss cutscene have been temporarily removed… Let’s be honest, it was in desperate need of redoing anyway =P
- Changing to the missionary animation during the sex scene will make the characters ‘freeze’ on a transition pose until you change to another animation
- Fara’s blacksmith bench disappeared in one of the tests we did
- When you kill the boss from the dungeon, the game might “freeze”. That’s actually because we are not using level streaming there yet, so the loading screen might not appear. But the level is loading.
- A few other bugs that we know but we are already on our way to fix them. Since this is a “test branch” of our game, we are not sweating way too much about those little things as long as they are not crashing the game. But please, let us now if you find ANY bug not mentioned here already!
