Psu: Ah yes, just a nice illustrated update today! Or years ago. How many years ago was this?

Gunwild: Neat sword, guess it's not a captain-grade one though. Captains are too cool for integrated hand protection.

Psu: I dunno, I feel like most people would like to guard their hands but I think Maddy has a preference to not having a basket guard. Or whatever that part is called... It's still added weight and slows the sword down. But that's not something that matters for ceremony.

Gunwild: Ya. Her reference images for her sword fighting are usually Chinese fencing anyway. I do notice her hat is all black here even though that has changed at least once in her career.

Psu: Well POSSIBLY that was just me making a coloring error. Coloring errors happen! Sorry bout that! But I figure that's also a place for me to note that I try not to have super detailed costumes anymore. Adding more details increases the chances of getting them wrong. Not to mention takes more time to draw. So most of the Regency uniforms just have a nice flap that goes over their chest instead of a whole deal with buttons. The buttons are just for special occasions.

Gunwild: Yeah, like a nice photo! I know she's not real but people like her and I'm proud we make stories that people enjoy, so... good pic.

Psu: I know we really wanted to hammer home that Maddy was, and in some ways still is, a very optimistic Regency person. But she had kinda an image of honor and heroism that didn't quite match up to what she experienced.

Gunwild: It's fine, she's just too best for alla them jerks.

Psu: One thing I want to note is that in this photo, the one she liked enough to keep framed, she's not looking at the camera. I know I'm the one that drew it but I kinda like that it's a little... shy. She's happy to be here, but maybe the pomp and circumstance isn't EXACTLY for her. Ya know. Like it's not her natural state of being to be celebrated.

Gunwild: It's fine, next time she'll get a medal but it'll just be a little one.

Brellom: It's true Maddy is best girl.

Psu: She got better at taking compliments, except from Cassiopeia.
