Psu: Man, this page is gorgeous. How is this page this good? The writing, the story the lighting. Even that goofy smile in the last panel is just about the cutest Cassiopeia has looked in this comic.
Gunwild: It's a good one. Hits the important things about them, even sorta shows why they hang out. I do wonder if in the space-future, costumes are of higher quality than now. They tend to be made for looks, not comfort or durability.
Psu: Ya know... here's a thing just coming to mind right now so bear with me. if our comic started here when these two first meet, it could have fulfilled the trope of a magical pixie dream girl right? Like, this wild girl comes into Zeke's life and changes his boring humdrum existence for the better. BUT, if I may congratulate ourselves, I think we side step the worst parts of that trope. For one, Zeke is the one that made the decision to change his life before Cassiopeia shows up. And two, I think it's clear that Cassiopeia is the one who's changed a bit since this scene.
Gunwild: Yeah, she bought a new clothes-projecting collar since then! Well... probably stole, not bought. But still.
Psu: Hey, she decided to simplify her look! Get it down to the essentials! Lose the potentially copyright bucking design! She's willing to steal a lot of things, but someone else's intellectual property? She's a thief, not a monster.
Gunwild: Hopefully everybody was smart enough to wear comfortable shoes to work to handle a four hour walk.
Psu: Did we discuss how long the walk should be? Like... we didn't want to be cruel to these guys who chose to do their jobs right? Zeke doesn't want anyone to get hurt. Flashback Cassiopeia might not have cared so much...
Gunwild: Four hours sounded to me like enough time for our stars to make a clean getaway, but not long enough to be a murderous death march. Plus they have the first aid kit for safety!
Psu: Actually I would bet those are more than just aid kits but supplies. Like water and snackies. Cassiopeia might've snagged one of the extra sugary ones before giving it to them, though.
Gunwild: Yeah, I think maybe our inspiration was the first season of Digimon where the one nervous kid carries the emergency camping supply bag for the whole dangerous adventure. Thus proving himself to be the only really smart and useful character.
Psu: I was more of a Pokemon fan and appreciated Brock's insistence that everyone eat well and prepared lots of nice donuts.
Gunwild: That was the English dub's name for onigiri... π
Psu: We got a little side tracked. Anyway, I like this page and I think it's very cute and settles one of the long running questions of this comic. Just what do Zeke and Peia like about each other?
Gunwild: It's not a question that demanded answering, really, because lots of different types of people like each other in real life and hardly need to give a reason. But I'm glad we got there.
Psu: I just think they're cute.
Gunwild: That was also always a valid reason.
