Gunwild: It's really showing how much of my work is just regurgitating good comics I've read... but there's this very effective bit in the mid-2000s run on the comic Gen13 where Bobby "Burnout" Lane is being bullied by some super-powered guy about his own age, and even though he's got godlike fire-powers and a team of super-teens at his back, he just extends his hand and asks the guy to bury the hatchet with him instead of throwing down. Just says "Costs you nothing" or something like that, and I went... 'I've legit never seen a superhero fight have a chance to end like this.' I won't give away what happened, but clearly it left a mark on me.
Psu: I think I should read more Gen13. That's the one with Caitlin Fairchild and the like, right?
Gunwild: Yes, the inspiration for fellow Hiveworks comic Empowered's often-shredding supersuit. (Adam Warren, author of Empowered, did a bunch of Gen13 stuff.)
Psu: There isn't a lot of suits getting shredded in Cassiopeia Quinn. I think when we started this comic, we'd assume there'd be more clothes being shredded. Not hands being shaken. But I think... that comes down to who we both are about conflict and stuff. Like these two are on the same side when it comes down to it. Feti lets her anger get the better of her but is still at her corp a dutiful officer.
Gunwild: I don't blame Kamsi for wanting to see more swordfighting though. It's not like one of them was gonna die. To quote Psu's new favorite cartoon character, "We live on a spaceship. Nobody is dying from a spear wound!"
Psu: Heh. Mariner is my new favorite cartoon character and you can't stop me if I put her in a background cameo. But yeah, I suppose we shouldn't blame Kamsi for wanting more sword fights at a sword fighting competition. It'd be like if Cobra Kai didn't have any kicks to the face.
Gunwild: It has many!
Psu: Man. Cobra Kai. Now that show I hope ends at Season 4 with a hug and a handshake. I just want everyone there to get along!
Gunwild: Do you think the bandages in P1 have Vanaa healing goo built into them?
Psu: Oh right, we should talk about the comic. Yeah! That was the intent. You can see how the color on the bandage fades by the time Maddy is back on tourney floor. There's a lot of good bandage and strap work on this page.
Gunwild: It's good to write to the artist's strengths.
