Page Commentary No. 202

Gunwild: Oh no Cupcake don't yell :0

Psu: Yeah but look at that Maddy smile. That's probably the best Maddy smile this entire comic.

Gunwild: She probably realized that win or lose, she can still enjoy the great taste of sO2da!

Psu: Speaking of winning and losing, I remember that with the action panels here, I wanted it to get accross just how aggressive Feti is in this round. Like she's suddenly extremely confident in being able to end Maddy's run. While not realistic sword fighting technique, I wanted it to look very much like Maddy would lose her head here. But Maddy knows that this is still just a game. All she needed to do was do a little tap. I like to think that really says a lot about where these two characters are at, especially after Maddy gave it some thinking. Like... it is just a game. She could afford to take what looks like a fatal blow but still bring this round to a draw.

Gunwild: She's not really a berserker type... but yeah I also put this in here because, as little as I know about fencing, I do know that one of the best ways to score points is to wait for your opponent to overextend themselves (as they may have to when going for contact) and just have your sword there waiting for them. So while the movements are a touch unrealistic, the situation is not.

Psu: It's a real turn around from their moves in the previous page, though. Maybe that says something like they both have this tendency towards surprising bold moves. Maybe that's just a Regency thing!

Gunwild: "Drongo" is a fun way to call someone an idiot.

Psu: I really like these sword swoshes on this page. The decision to just make a big light trail totally paid off. I know these aren't lightsabers but for the sake of the readers out there, it totally helps get the movements across. Maybe it's something like a holo display for the audience in the stands or watching on tv? It'd be the same tech that would make a big Soda ad break the fourth wall in the comic book you're reading.

Gunwild: Yeah, ya know, I was in a pizzeria a little while back (the tables were all very distant from each other for safety) and I happened to be close to the one of the TVs that was playing golf. They're adding these motion trails to televised golf drives now, too! I do think they're there in person, though, since everybody in the stadium shouldn't have to strain to see.

Psu: Yeah but then you can start using that advertising for evil. Just imagine you're watching a game of golf but then the course becomes like a war torn battle field with elf ladies in armor and they're all talking about "raid shadow legends play for free."

Gunwild: I mean that would suck for golf fans, but it would sort of be an upgrade for me.

Psu: I too prefer elf ladies in armor fighting orcs, to a pleasant game of golf. Unless it's Hot Shots golf then that's totally awesome already... What were we talking about?

Gunwild: I wonder if it feels sporty to drink out of one of those bottles with the spout there, like are in boxers' corners?

Psu: Any time can feel like a sporty time, if you're drinking new Sport Flavored So2da. It's sports!
