Gunwild: So, the numbers on the missile there are a date - 7/24/1964
Psu: You and your refrences.
Psu: Lemme have my random meaningless numbers!
Gunwild: I think I actually messed that one up - it was supposed to be the date of the Virtuous Mission from Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater. But it's actually the date the Boss learns the Shagohod is almost done.
Gunwild: Oops.
Gunwild: Still, an important event in the history of missile delivery systems!
Psu: You dork. I wish I could put the nerd emoji into this Patreon post. (Hello patrons.)
Gunwild: It's AUGUST 24th when the Davey Crockett was launched.
Psu: This is definitely a favorite page of mine in our first "chapter" because it introduces a lot of different factors. And I think it's one of the most important factors in keeping Cassiopeia herself a little more grounded and that's "Casual Peia" with her NASA hoodie and soda can. I haven't drawn Casual Cassiopeia with her hair tied up anymore cause it would take away from all of her distinguishing comic features especially in black and white. But her everyday look was really good and perfectly simple, I think.
Gunwild: I like her hair like that, but I see your point. Also, Zeke's hats sure get singed often. Guess you go through a lot of them in the rough-and-tumble lifestyle.
Gunwild: What a handsome folding electro-blade in the case next to that robot, there.
Psu: I was informed good hats should be reasonably flame resistant. At least on this page it's some sort of hand held arc welder... actually wait that makes even less sense why it would singe...
Psu: Anyway man, this page has so many subtle style differences than the previous ones. The panel borders are much more regular. There's a stronger use of perspective. I JUST started really maximizing black and white to compliment the comic's style. I can't be sure but I think timeline wise, this was the first page we started working on after we knew it was going to be a Hiveworks webcomic.
Gunwild: Pretty sure! Whatta milestone.
Psu: I honestly think this is one of my favorite Cassiopeia pages staring mostly Cassiopeia. And I think it's that tired look in the second to last panel with that smile. Like, it betrays some of her age and experiences I think, and her attitude towards all the stuff is something very interesting to me. She hasn't been revealed as anything of a Robin Hood yet. But her attitude about space and things is really quite something.
Psu: Also on this page we introduce So^2da. A ubiquitous soft drink that I'm glad has found its way into nearly every single one of our storylines.
Gunwild: It's never been explained on-page, but the reason for SO^2da being called that is that it's a soda with oxygen - O2 - in it.
Gunwild: Which is to say, there's just a bunch of air taking up space in the can. And this is a selling point.
Psu: The extra oxygen is for uh... oxygen.
Gunwild: Is slogan proudly proclaims that it can be used as an emergency breathing supply in the event of spacecraft decompression.
