8/16/17 P2 and Main Quest
Added 2017-08-17 03:37:51 +0000 UTCTwo updates in one day? Wuuuuuut?
That's right, I did lot of stuff in the game today and I was just so proud of myself that I had to brag about it, can you believe that?
First off, I pretty much finished the whole position system. The only thing I have to tune in that is how depending on the character and location, the actual sprites will need to move to certain spots in order to make the position make sense. So to correct this, I had to make a sort of mini-movement script that plays every time you end a spanking so that both you and the spankee move back to their original position. Aside from that, I finished the special bruising graphics and set up a basic system for them to be used which hasn't been tested yet, but with the simplicity I shouldn't expect many problems. I think I decided that the bruising will probably be a purely aesthetic feature, that some characters may comment on, but won't effect much game play wise. I also did a lot more rudimentary testing with some of the systems using some updated mechanics I put into the game. There were issues with the wrong clothes showing up, stuff not changing in the interface, text being skipped, etc.
Aside from that, I made some major strides in the main quest of the town, which turns out was a lot more complicated than I bargained for. You see, I never really had a means to give specific details or text for spanking scenes in the core system, so I had to finagle something to do that. Basically an event that gets read after every step of the spanking scene that checks how many actions you've taken along with other stats to determine whether or not text will show or something. What was even harder was using this in conjunction with having the same scene involve two spankings in a row. I think everyone here knows which part of the game I'm talking about. Either way, slowly but surely things are wrapping up. If I keep up this pace, I could have the entire main quest done by tomorrow. The things that are taking the most time right now is still all of the text I've been working on. It sucks, but once that's done, all that's left is eventing.
One thing I realized, is that when looking at these hyper detailed character interactions and such I'm putting into the game, these side details that are also in the town seem really tacky and unfinished, namely the two characters with medals in the town. I'll have to think of a way to give them more polish and a more unique experience to give in the beginning of the game. I also never took those side zones into account when I counted the personas I had to do. Now this could be fixed with just using a temporary persona from the ones I already made, but would mean a lot of repeated dialogue.
