5/4/17 Double Update on Spanking Variance

I wanted to catalog this little musing of mine on the current systems. As you probably know by now there are hundreds of different paths through a spanking you can take when punishing someone, considering all of the variables. How the results are perceived by the spankee and those around them, is more rigid than the process. Sort of like how paths through a maze all filter out into one or more exits. 

For scenes where the player is spanked, so far I've only displayed a rigid structure of punishment that doesn't give much variance. It's a case of few possibilities always leading to one exit (the player's sore rear end), like a hallway and not a maze. However, as I've looked over the code and applied what I've learned with the player/X scenes I've developed more means of varying the process of a X/player scene. First off, just as the player has their own goals prescribed to them when spanking someone, the npc will have those goals as well. For, say, a strict innkeeper meaning to punish you, they'll be looking to do a certain amount of damage past what you're currently at. For a disciplinarian, they might aim for a certain level of damage, regardless of what your current level is at. For a teacher or guard, they may be aiming for a certain swat count, or time limit. Stern caregivers might try to spank you until you cry. Sadists might spank you until they get off. Spank happy monsters or inanimate objects might just spank you until you pass out if you don't try to break free. The point is, there are a lot of options that can be applied which haven't yet.

You could make it a time thing instead of a damage thing. If their goal is to just go endlessly until you struggle then it's a set number of rounds in those particular scenes? That way it doesn't block out scenes and those just don't go endlessly.

Passing out used to be possible in an early version of SQII, but I took it out because I figured it wasn't necessary, and instead I just have being barred from any spanking scenes if you're too damaged. Now that I think about it, passing out would just be the same situation, a lot of work for a feature no one really cares about. I think I'll just make it so that the spanking continues forever for inanimate objects until you struggle out of it.

The maze analogy is a good one. I appreciate the consideration you are putting into making the spanked player character able to influence the outcome or shoot for a particular goal that clashes with the other participant(s) in some way or a similar way as to the spanking character. As an aside, I have never actually seen a pass out happen, even when I've tried to bring one on with the main as spankee. I don't know what it does, but if you imagine it might be more common, it might be a good time to consider what passing out - if that means failure - does or means. Finally, thanks once more for an interesting perspective on your design and development.

Yes, sort of. So the fact is that every time your character gets a spanking, earned or otherwise, they will lose something. Usually you lose "health" in the form of damage to your butt. But if you are stuck in a scene where the NPC is trying to do a certain amount of damage to you, it might be preferable to struggle and break out of the scene. Naturally, this will worsen relations with that character later and could have worse consequences. If you are stuck in a spanking where the spanker aims to make you cry, you would normally lose lots of dominance points with that character and anyone else present. But you can also possibly hold on to your emotions long enough that they give up, and although you took a lot of damage, your reputation came out in tact. If a spanker fails to get their desired reaction from you, there may or may not be a direct penalty. There may be a character down the line which tries to dominate you via spanking, and if they fail you'd get a big dominance boost with them. But if there is a judicial spanking scene where you are tried for a crime, breaking free may give you a worse fate. This system probably wont apply to inanimate spankers.

I do like the idea of the npcs having goals for spanking you. Do you think it will be possible for the npcs to fail their goal while spanking you, similar to how you can fail?
