The Tenn mascots are Smokey, a real life blue tick coonhound (on the sidelines) and Davy Crockett a historical frontier man. As a band mom, this whole thing made me tear up from all the years and hours spent supporting my son (🎺). This starts in high school and his school competed in Bands of America so we traveled all over for competitions. It’s massive. The majorettes were the batton twirlers. The cheerleaders were running down the far side and that was the drum major you saw. Teams generally have a female drill team as well. This is why game day lasts about 12 hours with entrances and tailgating and oh yeah, the game.
