I shot these two images 3 to 4 years apart in two countries.
They struck me as very similar, except for the background:
Both use semihard and hard light as backlight, striking the model at almost the same angle (slightly from above and accenting the front torso perfectly, with the face turned somewhat away).
Yes, she is lying down on one image, but try to stand that image up mentally, and you'll see what I mean.
I suppose it is a testament to how I like light to fall on various body types and the consistency that gives to images shot by a single individual:
It yields a certain recognizability when light, contrast, and even pose have the same essential characteristics regardless of whether the model is standing or lying.
The first and perhaps most important step toward creating your style is to precisely figure out what you like regarding light, camera angle, exposure, and contrast and try to understand why you prefer it that way.
That will make many things easier - and more consistent in your images.
