perilla is more korean to me, but very close to perilla is shiso leaf and thats like the japanese version. also i hate licorice and not a huge fan of mint but i love perilla leaves, esp in a korean bbq wrap. also marinated perilla leaves dont have that mint like flavor, it dissapates i guess from the soy sauce marinade. you guys would prob love top chef

Also, as what prev. comments have mentioned, you can also watch Culinary Class Wars (netflix) some of the chefs featured here were on it as well! (if you guys are up for it) Additionally, if you guys are interested, maybe The Dictionary of Useless Human Knowledge - Namjoon was on this show (for the whole series I believe?), I think you guys would like it! :)
