I love working with Zsan.
We got along as if we had been friends forever despite having just met an hour before.
Working with people like that makes a photo shoot so intuitive and exciting, as we can freestyle and try things out.
An uncanny openness to try things also makes it easier for me.
And perhaps a word on that openness:
I know a lot of photographers want to shoot erotic or explicit images of beautiful women.
Most photographers are men, so it is hardly surprising that a biological interest exists.
However, wanting to do something and having the model consent to do it are often two different things.
And you need to build trust for someone to accept to be in a vulnerable situation like that.
And that trust boils down to several things:
Being a good photographer, no women I know want bad nude images of them floating around on the internet.
Accepting boundaries unconditionally: a no or “I don’t think I want to do that” is always a no.
An honest approach:
I frequently tell models that I love looking at nude women and that I love to shoot erotic images if they feel like doing that.
They already know that of course.
They are women and have excellent intuition.
But having it out in the open means taking what I say at face value is easier.
Where photographers claim that they never have any sexual thoughts when they photograph, and they only think about light, aperture, and shutter speed; mostly, they are lying, and women know that.
So, they anticipate and look for the next lie, which is not conducive to trust.
Being honest and respectful will always get you further with women.
