Combat system

I'm brimming with ideas on things to improve and would love to get some feedback.
I like the current fight system, it reminds me of a mix of a boardgame with a PC game. However I've been really eager to try something. I'm not sure if I would be even able to do it but would like to gauge some opinions.
You probably know the game Darkest Dungeon. I would love to do something along those lines, where you control a squad of 4-5 units and fight aliens hordes.
