June Update 2023

Hello everyone! How we doing? Sorry for the long radio silence, but there's a reason for that... and it's... well...

... yeah. And this is the lighter one. You should see the brace, and the splints I gotta sleep in. I should actually put some pictures of the splints on Discord, they're pretty much plaster casts that go up to my elbows lol.

What is this about? Well, for some reason over the last few months my long-running struggle with carpel tunnel syndrome has been going poorly. I can't grab anything without both hands going numb (yeah, it's actually both hands lol), my right hand aches most of the time, and the right fingers are partially numb. Constantly. BUT! Don't worry, I'm off work, I'm working on it with a really good team of doctors and stuff, and hopefully it'll be better in a few months.

Unfortunately, writing makes my hands numb really damn fast for some reason...

Anyway! I somehow have managed to get about... eh, I'll say about three quarters of the next chapter drafted already? Yeah, about three quarters. There's a lot of editing I'm going to have to do (because my fingers go numb and then I start missing keys and there's a lot of spell checking to do lmao). This chapter is pretty much just tying up the loose ends in Ylisstol before the story moves north and towards Port Ferox.

YES! LE GASP! WE'RE ON THE PATH TO WAR!

What else is going on? Not a whole lot. I'm off work, and unfortunately can't do anything. And I don't do downtime well. Blegh. I've been doing a lot of reading lately, mostly just Warhammer books and stuff, nothing mind-shattering. I did revisit I Have No Mouth and Yet I Must Scream, and yeah it was just as depressing now as it was when I read it a decade ago. I'm planning to get into The Book That Would Not Burn next, which is apparently a staple grimdark science fiction novel. So, we'll see how that goes. I think the best book I've read so far was the Warhammer novel Assassinorum: Kingmaker, which HOLY SHIT WAS SO GOOD. Thin a kind of Mission Impossible style story about a team of assassins going to a planet to mess with the local nobility. You do not need to have any knowledge of Warhammer to enjoy it (the author did a really good job of making it self-contained), and I highly recommend it to anyone who are fans of Mission Impossible or Oceans 11 or that kind of stuff. I loved it.

Uh... what else. I'm gonna pick up Advance Wars and the new Fire Emblem game once I get paid, so I can keep myself from going insane while I'm off work. And I think that's about it.

So! Thank you all for your continued support! I'm still writing, I'm still creating, and I'm feeling pretty upbeat right now about everything.

Thanks for all your support, and Nagaspeed!
