Self Insert Dark Download & March 2022 Update

Morning, all! Sorry for the long radio silence. And hello to all new Patrons! Sorry that Dark is inaccessible at the moment; all the current Dark chapters are attached to this post, so feel free to binge to your heart's content. Hopefully this stupid ZIP file works and I don't have to attach all thirty-odd chapters individually... Let me know if you have any problems with it. 

The preview above is from the dumb little Three Houses Self Insert... I guess you could call it an Apocryphal? It's like a side story? Meh, Three Houses Self Insert story, absolutely not canon to the main story, just for a little fun. I know I jokingly teased it years ago now, with that dumb little post about becoming Professor of the Golden Deer by 'winning' a duel with Byleth by kicking her in the crotch, but it's finally happening! I wanted to have it done for y'all this month, but... well, the universe had other ideas. 

In regards to the other stories, Dark is progressing slowly and Canon is planned, prepped and ready to go, but I really wanted to get Dark finished and uploaded before I started working on the Canon chapter. Then this Three Houses story happened, and I'm having a lot of fun with it. When I can actually focus long enough to get any writing done. 

So, yeah, obviously things haven't been going great with my physical rehabilitation. Honestly, I don't feel like I'm making any progress. The doctors tell me I am, but let's just say it's a good thing that I'm not paying for this out of pocket, because I would have told them all to fuck off a month ago. I think the problem is that a lot of the system that they have in place is meant for people who are out of work or retired, and a person in my situation, still working full time, is sort of anathema. It's like I make progress in one area, another flares up, and we're back to square one. I'm seeing my actual GP this week to talk about what to do; I have leave saved up at work I can take, but I don't want to be taking my time off for no reason, ya know? Like, if this shit isn't going to work, I don't want to waste my time with it. I'm kinda stuck right now. The worst part is the not sleeping. My sleep pattern is well and truly fucked at this point because of this injury, and I'm averaging about two hours a night. Which sucks, and is the main reason I haven't been writing anywhere near as much as I have been in the past. But, I've made the decision that if this stupid rehab isn't going to work, I'm going to start focusing on my writing again. If I'm still not feeling like I'm making any progress by the end of May, and we haven't figured out any alternative, I'm hitting fuck it and going back to my old schedule.

I don't really think there's much else going on in my life right now. I've fallen hard down the vtuber rabbit hole. Nyanners is my favorite. She's... insane. I love her content. I also really like Ceres Fauna of HoloLive; I find her voice really relaxing, and I love watching her when I get off work to just unwind. Oh, and I did get the fan-made Fire Emblem board game Anna's Roundtable by Brother Ming Games. I'm trying it out this weekend, so if you're not in the Discord or following me on Twitter you'll miss my initial opinions. I think he still had a few copies if people were curious about it, too. My editor, MinuteRice, has played the game, and says it's a lot of fun. So, I'm looking forward to it. Aside from that, my games-buddy and I finally finished Warhammer Quest: Cursed City, which I can confirm was a hell of a lot of fun. We're now eagerly looking forward to the first expansion as we go back to playing Warcry. Because we gotta use all these minis we've painted for something. I'm actually running a Warcry warband based on the old Middenheim units from Warhammer Fantasy, so I've got a lot of old Mordheim, Kislev and Knights of the White Wolf minis that I'm using as proxies. I love these old metal minis, they're so detailed and fun to paint (yes, I'm aware that if you're not familiar with the intricacies of the Warhammer world that's all just gibberish to you. I apologize). Plus, if you lose, they're nice and weighty, perfect for yeeting at your friend's head in a fit of gamer rage. Although, I am having a lot more luck with these guys than I did with my Elf warband last year. Time will tell!

Also, the amazingly talented MercyArt has started a new twitter page and has been sharing a lot of the artwork she's been working on, including a lot of the stuff she's been doing for me. Check her out, @MercyArtist on Twitter! Her PFP is an adorable kitty. Why? Who knows!? (now where does that sound familiar from lol)

Also-also, major props go out to the incredibly patient MinuteRice and TheRealOG for putting up with my shit for the last few months; without them, I'd probably not be getting any writing done at all, and I'm incredibly grateful to both of them. Heart emojis! Heart emojis for all! 

Okay, I think that's about enough rambling from me now. I can't promise anything, but I'm planning on taking the rest of the week off of work, so hopefully I can get some writing done and have something to share before the end of the month, even if it's just a draft.
