So this week has been different. I rendered NO images. Instead I burned a day or so trying to make a phone ๐ฑ texting system work before I relaized it was probably beyond my ability. I found a fellow developer looking to do partial coding for other devs for $ and I've got him working on it. STILL don't know how much it will co$t me, though he says his prices are negotiable and reasonable. But in his defense with this kind of thing you don't really know how much time it will take until you put a certain amount of time into it. Ah well it's only ๐ต. It's all for a good cause right? ๐ฌ๐ค The texting module will allow players to scroll through the whole conversation thread between the MC and Nina. I plan to go all the way back to before the Change to create context and provide some interesting insights into their relationship. I'm not going to fill it full of a lot of crap like "Did you pick up milk?" though there might be a small number of things like that just to make it look somewhat organic and natural. I think for most couples 99% of our text history is boring ๐ฉ like that, but this history will be like 95% interesting stuff, and 5% boring stuff. That's my goal anyway.
The texting system will also work in the future for MC and Olivia, and who knows maybe others, but the only text thread with history before game-start will be MC+Nina's.
After setting that up I realized I needed a break from image rendering so shifted to other areas that need work. I've been behind on my image postwork, so I went through all existing images and completed all the Photoshop postwork for them.
Then, since there's a crapload of voicework in Scene 2 already for my lovely French voiceover artist, ๐๐ป๐ซ๐ท๐ผ๐ค I started the document for her, which quickly reached EIGHT pages just for that scene (YIKES!). makes me wonder what size bill I'm going to get from her once I reach the end of scene 8 and get her the final release 2 script. ๐ฐ๐ต๐ฐ๐ต๐ฐ๐ญ๐ญ๐ญ๐ญ๐ญ๐ญ
Then I decided to get all the sound and music current too. So I created a bunch of sound effects files, chose music for what's completed, and created just a couple AI voice files on ElevenLabs. I'm avoiding doing too much too early on AI because I'm hoping ElevenLabs will be coming out with some tools to help provide some more emotion and better speech-rate control for my voices before I'm terribly close to Release Day.
Since I'm all caught up on things now I'll probably spend this weekend writing the "back-history" text conversations between the MC and Nina to prepare for the phone-texting module my new friend is writing. Then I'll be ready to start rendering again starting Monday.
Anyway, sorry there are no scene images to show this week. There will be next week though!
