Olivia's Skin Color and my Nasty Night
Added 2022-04-10 21:48:09 +0000 UTCSo on looking over the first renders from this new scene, I decided I didn't like Olivia's skin color. I've struggled with this in the past. It's been challenging to give her an "olive" skin tone without going too far. I thought I had it licked, but these scenes are intentionally low-light, and it just doesn't look appealing in those conditions it turns out. So I'm re-opening these files, making a couple tweaks, and saving them. I'll render a couple today to double-check. When I go to bed tonight I'll render the rest while I sleep.
Last night I had a "fun" experience! /s
Couldn't get to sleep, just felt restless and "off". But then about 2:30am my side started to hurt. A lot. And then got a salty taste in my mouth, felt nauseated. This was a familiar combination - I've been through this two other times in the last 24 years. Kidney stones. Woke up my wife, told her we might have to visit the ER. I waited it out, hoping it would be mild this time, and the stone would pass quickly. And it seemed to, so I got back into bed and tried to sleep. But that was just round 1. It came back with a vengeance. Pain got much worse, and I vomited a huge amount, and then the dry heaves started, and we got into the car. I don't know if any of you have experienced this, but it's one of the strongest pains a person can experience. Doctors will ask you how bad it hurts from 1 to 10, I hit 9 a few times, and then for over an hour when we drove to the ER and before check-in, and before pain meds kicked in, I was at 8 that whole time. That's exhausting. Got a CT scan and IV drip. My oxygen dropped and they put a tube in my nose. Eventually the final 3-5mm stone passed and we went home about 6am, and I slept until just now, about 2pm.
Anyway, all better now. Drink more water.
