The Alpha Gender [Characters] - Where are we right now?
Added 2021-08-04 04:13:06 +0000 UTCSo, what has been created so far, and what's the order of the next few steps to move toward initial release?
CHARACTERS - All main characters are fleshed out in their characteristics, and fully designed/modeled/textured in Daz Studio. Most characters have one clothing outfit created for and fitted to them, though a couple have more than one. I had originally created all these characters many months ago and thought I was done but then the siren song of better skin textures got to me and I ended up re-texturing all of them (and changing hair style for the MC) because I found a more realistic skin texture system.
Special note on Olivia de La Renta (ODLR). I have been very committed to making her in particular as good as possible. Over a year ago a vendor on Daz3D created an HD muscle definition system for Genesis 8 Males that was amazing, and had promised to create the female version as well. Genesis 8 is the current best generation of Daz figure base (there's actually now 8.1 but I won't go into that). I desperately wanted that product for my ladies, and especially ODLR! From all reports he sounded like he was 2-4 weeks away from releasing it to Daz for approval and inclusion in their store... and then the poor guy's wife died. For a long time many of us who were bowled over by his male HD muscle product were hopeful that once he dealt with his grief he'd release the female product. I was in limbo for a long time, but eventually had to give up on the idea of it ever being released: he seems to be AWOL on Daz now for months. I spent a long time trying to gender-swap the male product and create female characters from it. I was successful with Shawna Anderssen (you may have noticed she got a big muscle upgrade!) but after many many hours of effort I eventually had to realize that there were too many stumbling blocks to making it work for a character like ODLR who had specific hair needs, change-of-clothing needs and many other factors that would require way too much extra time to make work for a game character. So it was not to be, and the moment I realized that is when I decided to get serious about pushing TAG game development ahead.
In my similar post about story released a couple hours ago I mention "Campfire Blaze". That software has a feature that looks like I might be able to use to create special "character profiles" for each main TAG character to give to patrons. I haven't checked that out fully yet but it looks like it might be pretty cool, so everyone can get a thorough description and picture of each character. More on that once I've researched it more.
