[Marvel's Magic Master] Chapter 265: Refining the Fusion Dragon Crystal
Added 2025-03-09 16:18:26 +0000 UTCAfter reattaching the dragon’s head to its massive body, George began drawing a magic formation around the corpse of the dragon to refine the Dragon Crystal.
Refining a Dragon Crystal doesn’t require any additional materials—just one thing: the corpse of a dead dragon.
Using a specialized magic formation, the dragon’s remains are condensed through magical power into a crystal containing all its essence. This crystal can then be implanted into the body.
However, in some cases, the corpse and the dragon’s heart are refined separately, producing two Dragon Crystals instead.
But the effectiveness of such a method is inferior to refining the entire dragon into a single crystal.
Naturally, George wouldn’t compromise quality by splitting the process—he wanted the best Dragon Crystal possible.
“Let’s begin.”
After completing the magic formation around the dragon’s body, George pressed both hands onto it and began pouring in an immense amount of magic power.
As his magic took effect, the formation lit up with a dazzling glow, enveloping the dragon’s corpse. Under the power of the formation, the massive body slowly shrank as it was refined.
An entire hour passed before the magic formation finally erupted with a burst of energy. In the aftermath, a crimson Dragon Crystal, no larger than the palm of a hand, lay on the ground.
Picking it up, George could immediately feel the rich fire-elemental energy contained within.
“It’s done.”
A faint smile appeared on his face. Without wasting time, he began chanting the fusion spell and slowly placed the Dragon Crystal against his heart.
A sharp, searing pain erupted in his chest as the crystal gradually melted into his body like liquid, merging with his heart. In an instant, the power of the dragon spread through his magic, integrating with his own strength.
As the Dragon Crystal was fully absorbed, George felt his body undergo rapid transformation—his physique had improved significantly.
Before this, the combined physical attributes of his various bodies had already pushed him beyond normal human limits. But now, with the Dragon Crystal’s augmentation, his physical capabilities had at least tripled.
The most notable improvement was in his defense.
Previously, his physical durability was decent—regular bullets could only break the skin and cause minor bleeding. However, his magical resistance was virtually nonexistent.
Without an active magic defense, he would be affected by spells just like any ordinary person or wizard, with no natural resistance to magical effects.
Of course, due to his immense magical power and expertise, he could dispel most magic cast upon him.
But now, things had changed.
The fusion with the Dragon Crystal had granted him a portion of the dragon’s physique, along with its natural resistance to both physical and magical attacks.
Moving forward, even without activating magical defenses, most physical and magical attacks would be ineffective against him. And even if an attack did manage to break through, its impact would be significantly weakened.
“Even if I ignore everything else, just the enhancement to my physique and defense makes this worthwhile. No wonder this was the first ancestral dragon created by Morgoth.”
Testing his newfound abilities, George took a deep breath—then exhaled a jet of black dragonfire.
It came out effortlessly, as naturally as spitting. No incantations or casting gestures were needed.
“This feels amazing.”
After spewing black flames for a while, George looked at the scorched ground around him and nodded in satisfaction.
He was now like a humanoid dragon, capable of unleashing black dragonfire just like the ancient dragon Grawlorun. The only difference was that his flames weren’t as massive.
But that didn’t matter.
This method of breathing fire was naturally weaker than spellcasting—it was only logical since he was still human, not a true dragon.
If he wanted to enhance his dragonfire, he could follow the example of Fairy Tail’s Dragon Slayers and develop specialized magic techniques to amplify it.
This realization brought him great relief.
Since dragonfire was still fundamentally a type of flame magic, he could simply replicate the techniques developed by Natsu Dragneel and use them as his own.
In fact, breathing fire directly had some advantages over casting fire magic.
It was faster, more precise, and had an element of surprise, making it a highly effective method for ambushes.
For example, in battle, an opponent could easily dodge a fire attack cast from the hands. However, if engaged in close combat, suddenly spitting a jet of fire from the mouth would be much harder for an enemy to react to.
In the future, if an enemy got too close in a fight, a sudden burst of dragonfire could turn the tide instantly.
“Now, onto the most important step for a Dragon Slayer.”
George extended his hand, conjuring a wisp of cursed flame, then inhaled sharply, attempting to consume it.
The greatest advantage of Dragon Slayers over regular fire mages was their ability to devour any type of fire—regardless of its source—to strengthen their own flames.
This ability essentially made them invincible against their own element unless faced with an overwhelming power gap.
“Hmm? Why isn’t it working?”
After multiple attempts, George realized he couldn’t absorb the cursed flames like Natsu could.
At first, he thought the issue was that he was trying to absorb his own magic. To test it, he borrowed a torch from an elven soldier—only to find that it still didn’t work.
Could it be… that dragons from different worlds have different properties?
In the end, he could only conclude that the difference in dragon species was the cause.
Unlike Fairy Tail’s dragons, Grawlorun and other magic dragons might not have the ability to consume elemental energy, which meant he wouldn’t inherit that ability either.
However, this wasn’t entirely a bad thing.
At the very least, after further testing, he confirmed that he didn’t suffer from Fairy Tail’s Dragon Slayers’ infamous weakness—motion sickness.
“It seems like I’ll still need to find an authentic Dragon Crystal from Fairy Tail’s world.”
Just as citrus fruits grow differently depending on where they are cultivated, the same principle applies to dragons from different worlds. It’s understandable that Dragon Crystals refined from different species would have different effects.
Still, he considered this experiment a success.
The enhancement to his physique alone was invaluable—not just for defense, but also for increasing his power in combat. His Giant Magic and electrical stimulation techniques for melee combat would now be significantly more effective.
Currently, he could enlarge himself up to 30 meters tall—not as massive as the Fairy Tail Guild Master, who could grow over 100 meters.
However, due to his vastly superior base physique and the amplifying effects of electricity, his combat power might already surpass that of the Fairy Tail Guild Master despite the size difference.
Additionally, his main body in the Marvel Universe, as well as his avatars in other worlds, had also received the same enhancements.
So, while there were some minor disappointments, the overall outcome was overwhelmingly positive.
Oh, and there was one final benefit—his control over fire magic had improved dramatically.
Cursed Flames, which used to rage uncontrollably once unleashed, could now be fully mastered.
If a war against Morgoth truly broke out in the future, George had already devised a strategy—he would unleash massive waves of Cursed Flames outside Angband every day, burning Morgoth’s orc armies to cinders.
That way, the only thing left for his allies to do would be to gang up on Morgoth and the Balrogs.
With the Dragon Crystal refined and fused, George returned to the Elven city.
In just the short time he had been away, the Light Elves had already used their Life Magic to restore the burned flora within the city, making it look as pristine as ever.
