Further editing update
Added 2021-06-06 15:44:47 +0000 UTCHello, Dear Readers.
Long story short, re-editing the first volume ended up as a ginormous time-sink, far beyond even my most pessimistic predictions. The fact that my job's been killing me in the past two weeks certainly didn't help either.
Anyhow, I'm done with the first volume, and so I decided that as a form of apology for the long radio silence, I'd throw together both a PDF and an EPUB version for you guys. The EPUB is super-rudimentary, as this was the first time I tried using an e-book creator, but it should work. If not, comment, and I'll try to fix it.
Now, as for the edits: I didn't change much, as I mostly focused on maintaining consistency, both in format and verbiage, hunting down typos, and a few stylistic changes (I just realized that I barely use contractions...). However, there are two slightly more impactful changes I'd like to bring to your attention.
First off, I reworked Leo's attitude towards the girls a little bit. I inserted a few lines earlier on to indicate that he was aware of their affections, but didn't want to act on them because of his own reservations about the world and free will and so on. More importantly, I've toned down his relationship-phobia a little, and instead made it clearer that he was aiming for the OT3 relationship with the girls from as early as his failed attempt to turn Elly down on the rooftop, and I've restructured a few scenes to show that he was laying some groundwork so that his proposal at the beginning of volume 2 wouldn't be so unexpected.
The other major change is in regards of the finale. In short, I made sure that Leo used his teleportation ability a bit more liberally, and emphasized that doing so was mentally exhausting him. I also made a few minor changes to tone down his outside-context-knowledge, as it wasn't very important to establish it at this point, but on the other hand it made it look like he was pulling solutions out of thin air. Hopefully things now flow a little better and make more internal sense.
Anyhow, now that the publisher can start working on the first volume, I'll try to squeeze out a new chapter as soon as possible, and then I'll have to start re-editing the second volume. It's... going to take a while, to put it mildly.
Anyhow, I wish you a great day.
Edit: I goofed and accidentally converted an older iteration of my master file. I re-converted and re-uploaded the up-to-date PDF, but the EPUB takes some time, and it's late. I'll fix it up tomorrow.
Comments
Those seem like some solid updates. I might reread the edited version because of it...
