Further update
Added 2021-02-20 19:00:27 +0000 UTCHey, Dear Readers.
Small change of plans. I just got my CoVid shot today, because everyone in healthcare has to get one by government mandate, even if one has already recovered once, and I'm having a pretty intense immune reaction to it, with my arm hurting like a female dog and a small fever that is actually slowly getting higher over time. As such, I'm going to sleep now instead of writing, but I'm almost done with the first part of the next chapter, so unless I will be completely zombified, I will post it tomorrow come hell or high water.
Also, following the last post, I looked up my old notes on my trusty old pendrive, and I found two more short story ideas I might or might not use in the future.
-Option 7: As of yet untitled
Setting: Old norse mythological setting. Raganrök misfired due to some changes in the timeline, so the Nine Realms are stuck in an equilibrium of constant war where no one can win.
Plot: The MC is a young hunter in a village in Midgard, and once he comes of age, he's compelled by tradition to join a viking to raid other realms so that he could accumulate valor and be chosen by Odin to join his host in his wars. However, before they could even embark, he gets into an argument with the standard manly-man guy who finds his posture too weak, breaks his bow, and when he retaliates, he falls into a ravine and dies. However, he awakens in Helheim, where it turns out he sees the land and the goddess Hel ruling over it very differently than others. In exchange for one of his eyes, Hel allows him to return to life, but upon receiving it, she decides that the bargain wasn't fair enough, so she gives him the eye Odin sacrificed to gain the runes. Upon returning to Midgard, the MC attempts to return to his old village, inadvertently running into other Norse gods and monsters thrown off their rails, all the while being stalked by a very interested (and somewhat yandere-ish) Hel.
-Option 8: This one had a title, but it was dumb, so I spare you from it
Setting: Adventure-friendly medieval fantasy world in the middle of a long, protracted economical recession.
Plot: The MC used to be a legendary spy of the local empire, who was sent to infiltrate the local warmongering nomads. He did it so well that he ended up becoming their leader via trial by combat, and he led all of their forces into an ambush by the empire, but he was accidentally hit by a catapult shot and died on the spot.
Two hundred years later, he's raised by an old necromancer, who dies from a heart attack in the middle of the ritual, which causes him to end up as a common skeleton. Not only that, it turns out that fifty or so years ago, a well-meaning but economically dumb emperor received a wish-granting miracle, and wished for animals and monsters to drop gold so that all of his subjects, and therefore his empire, would be rich. This led to devaluation and an economic collapse. This is an issue for the MC, because the resurrection magic of the temples is an automated system set up by the gods, which automatically follows inflation, and so now he needs an insane amount of gold to properly resurrect himself.
In order to achieve this, he hatches a plan, gathers a group of allies (including the ghost of the necromancer that raised him, a klutzy succubus who fell in love with him because, as a skeleton without hormones, he's one of the few males in the world who can converse with her without turning into a horny mess, and an eclectic young alchemist who wants to figure out how to turn gold into something more useful), and set out to create a fake dungeon in order to raise funds and simultaneously siphon the excess gold out of the economy, which ends up so successful it even draws the attention of the current emperor.
I think that's all. I still have something like twenty more story ideas and plot synopses I wrote during my college years, but most of those are either not very original, or not very viable beyond the premise. Now then, if you excuse me, I really need to take an Aspirin and try to sleep this off. Cheers, and see you tomorrow.

2021-02-21 10:47:14 +0000 UTCI like both options a lot. I love norse mythology. But the second option is also super interesting, but i don't really get how a skeleton raised by an old necromancer could possibly negotiate with an emporor to try and deal with the economy
