This week I've got a hefty homebrew for y'all! As we all know, when Tasha's Cauldron of Everything came out, they released a new system to do races, which didn't include weapon proficiencies, language proficiencies, and most importantly, no pre-set ability score improvements!
Although this is largely a good thing, unfortunately it left a lot of the lineages in the player's handbook to the wayside. For example, the additional ability score improvements offered by Half-Elf and Dwarf was part of what made them unique, and now one cannot really play either of those lineages with the new TCE rulings.
In addition to this, as new lineages have been released, similar to subclasses, they have slowly gotten more and more powerful (power creep), leaving the lineages in the PHB rather dull in comparison.
This lack of mechanical advantage in comparison to new books along with a dissonance with the new design changes in TCE has left many lineages behind, so this homebrew seeks to fix that by adding in new features to lineages that are a little less (or a lot) less powerful than others!
And, to make character creation easier, I've also attached an additional document that is a masterlist of all official 5e lineages, with the revisions worked in! This masterlist only doesn't include lineages that are very specific to their setting (like Verdan, Simic Hybrid, Ghostwise Halflings, etc).
