Well this brew sought to double down on that fantasy, by making a Wizard Arcane Tradition solely dedicated to the purpose of creating extraplanar spaces!
Although this one may not seem as combat focused as other subclasses, I would encourage you (and your players if you're a DM) to think with portals! Suddenly having extra space that wasn't there, having a place where one can just be out of the environment, or suddenly creating a confusing portal entrance can be rather useful for a few situations if you're clever!
