[Progress Report]: 18th of April - With Sumire!


Hey everyone,

Bit of a slower week this week. I spent some time updating Lovestruck's looks as well a setting up some of the environments you'll see her and Keegan in. I'm pretty happy with how they turned out, and I'm still focused on the progress of the main story. All of that said, I did promise some updates on Sumire and here they are! Let's start from the top:

So, it's been no secret that I have never been happy with Sumire's original design. I was just reaching the limits of what I knew about character customization at the time, and there were so many things that just ended up wrong - I couldn't place that I found odd about the face, the lighting, and her overall build. I knew that I wanted Sumire to be an incredibly intelligent, driven, and sharp-tongued woman who wasn't afraid of anybody. I ended up with... well... a mannequin. I'd later make large changes to the lighting system, my software would also update its lighting engine, and after several iterations...

The major goal was to add more color to the skin, increase the contrast on her face to avoid the washed-out look, and then reshape the lips to be better proportioned. I wanted to avoid sweeping changes, like I do with most of the models, because the original did have a very good base set of features, I just didn't know how to work them correctly in my setup at the time.

You can also see how the improved contrast helped define some of Sumire's other features.

A possible romance with Sumire is planned in the future, so yes, all of those extra detail will be in game. That does it for me this week. I'll be finishing up Keegan's & Lovestruck's event hopefully tonight and then I should probably start the job search. Also, the patreon poll will be coming this week! Keep an eye out!
