Oh goooooooosh, it's my first Patreon update since I started my break!
I should have updated yesterday, since that was officially my first day back at work, but I stayed out late getting in hangout time with Leia Weathington (http://boldriley.com/) and Sfé Monster (http://eths-skin.tumblr.com & you can support him on Patreon [I do!] at http://www.patreon.com/sfemonster) before he goes back to Cananananada, and by the time I got home I was like "nuh-uh, a Patreon update is not happening, I'll do it tomorrow." AND TOMORROW IT IS.
So here is your update!
Yesterday and today I spent penciling six pages of helpful advice for mostly-monogamous couples to have themselves a happy, healthy, communicative threesome, and then towards the end of the day I even got started inking it. Oh, also I spent about an hour going through the "threesome" tag on Tumblr to find threeway sex position reference photos to draw from.
Listen, I'm going to let you in on a little drawing-porn-comics secret. Don't tell anyone. It's just for you patrons. Ready? ...DRAWING PEOPLE HAVING SEX IS REALLY HARD.
It's gotten easier in the year since I first started OJST, but oh man. I know the internet is supposed to be built on porn but it is actually really hard to find usable photos with good angles to use as drawing reference. Bonus points if the people have average-shaped bodies. I've very studiously built up a Reference Sex Positions folder (different than the "Erika is Personally Turned On By These Pictures" folder) that's just about 700 pictures strong now. I realize it may sound like I just sit around and save pictures of people having sex (which is... not inaccurate), but it's VERY CAREFULLY CURATED pictures of people having sex, selected so as to be the most useful when I need to draw people doin' the deed in my comic.
IT'S HARD WORK, DAMNIT.
(hur hur "hard" hur hur)
In OJST book news: The books are being bound AS WE SPEAK. Like, it is literally happening RIGHT. NOW. I just got the assembled, trimmed, unglued proof today and it is just... Dang. I'm really happy with it. There's a tiiiiiiiny centering issue that's off on the cover, but I don't think it's that big of a deal. The rest of it is just perfect. Lovely. I can't believe it's (almost) real. I'm so proud, you guys. So flippin' proud.
