Glasgow is pronounced ‘GLAZ GO’

I like S5 a little more on this second viewing. I do like 6 a whole lot more.

Donna Castellano

The real peaky blinders were killed "in season 1" by Billy Kimber. That's why the ending of season 1 is so unrealistic. Everything until now is fiction. The politics is necessary for the progression of the show, Oswald Mosley was a real person. And we all know there are no bigger criminals than politicians ;)

Couldn't agree with you more it could just carry on with the peaky blinders against the next criminal gang and we still are the Billy Boys were also a real criminal gang in Glasgow in the 1920s. But this show is about Tommy to me his motivations his dilemmas his regrets obviously every character is important especially his family. But as you said season 5 and 6 are about his head space him coming to trying to come to terms with himself and whether or not he will ever have peace.

In previous episodes you guys thought you recognised the man Tommy said was the devil, He played Finnick in The Hunger Games.

Season 5 and season 6 are part 1 and 2 of the Tommy Shelby journey. I think the difference, and maybe why people were not as invested, is because these 2 seasons are all about what is going on in Tommy's head. The unravelling mind of a man who's journey to the top has been meticulously planned and executed and Tommy has always come out on top. The villains have been physical criminal people who can be defeated with a gun battle. This has been the plot and people have come to expect it. The story is about Tommy's journey, his physical and mental journey, His wins and loses, his understanding that he can never be truly accepted because of where he's from, and he will never escape his demons. Now he has a new threat but it is more an ideology which is represented with the real life character of Moseley he can't be defeated with a gun battle so it is a new strategy for Tommy so perhaps not as much on the edge of your seat action as people have become accustomed to, but just as much exciting drama and tension. This is where we see, as you have commented, him become flustered, not perhaps as in control as we have known him to be as this is a huge enemy that in history we know goes on to do despicable things. So it is a more emotional journey we have begun which let me say I have thoroughly enjoyed. Love your reactions so glad you are on board with the change from gun battles to politics. Can't wait for next week.

Looking forward to your reactions 💖

For me, politics was a natural progression for the show - and I was extremely thrilled when I saw them at the polling place with the Bob Dylan cover playing in the background - we'd turned a page and the future episodes lived up to that moment for me. For what it's worth, the next episode is one of my faves of the entire show.

Also loved the reaction so much this week🥳

Personally I loved season 5 I think the political focus was great and very important because of how divisive race and facism was at that time it’s kinda hard to make a show set in that time without addressing those topics at least a little
