I enjoyed this movie. In some ways made me think of Bridge to Terabithia.

Loved this. guys. Watched this for the first time with you all and cried my face off, but felt kind of "meh" afterwards. It may warrant a re-watch tomorrow on my own. Thanks, though. Great reaction.

I recommend watching “A Monster Calls” from 2016. Really underrated and another movie that deals with “imagination” and grief.

I felt the exact same way, I liked it but there was something missing. I didn't really find myself laughing that much, I'm not sure if it was supposed to be but when you have Ryan and these imaginary characters you expect a little more. Some moments just felt so rushed, like there's that scene when she goes to the hospital to see her dad just to give him flowers and leave, it was just a little odd. The beginning is weird to me too because where was she staying before going to the grandma's? It seems like her dad had been in the hospital for a little while, the nurse even comments about them catching up. There's a couple of other scenes that was a little sporadic to me. It is a lot better the second time around, the message and idea is what I really enjoy. I love that when you first watch it your thinking it's about them finding new kids but no it's about them reconnecting with the kid that created them and that they were still needed even though they're grown up. That feels like something Pixar would come up with. Honestly, I thought this film's inspiration was maybe a little of Monsters Inc, the IF's kind of felt like Monsters. The second half is where I really love it, the beginning kind of drags a little bit.

When I first watched this, I felt let down a little, I didn't love it that much. I thought the lead actress did great, I loved all the different imaginative scenes they came up with. I just felt like the overall story, was missing something and I just didn't connect with it. I feel like someone of that was because I really wanted to and thought I would, like this movie a lot. However on watching this again a second time, I do like it more, I noticed little things here and there, that I didn't the first time, like the line from Bea, "I'm not a kid" and Calvin said "Well, that's, that" with a kind of sad tone as she left, then later when he asked why she could help and she said "because I'm a kid" and he said "Well, that's that", with a lot more of a hopeful tone. I liked the little things I noticed like that. My original score would have been about a 2, I was low on the movie, my new score is probably a 3 or a 3.5.

I loved this movie! Me and my 5 year-old daughter watched it for the first time a couple weeks ago and this rewatch makes my 4th time seeing it. FIrst, shoutout to the soundtrack, it's beautiful and really adds to the emotion and feel of the movie. At this point I've cried every time I've watched it lol. I think what added to my experience the first time around was that I wasn't watching super closely, so I didn't pick up on the little signs about Ryan Reynolds character. I fully thought he was just a human up until the reveal, so when that realization hit I was crying! I will say though, I've come to realize I don't typically try to guess the endings of movies. Some I may go into it having an idea, but when I'm watching I think I just focus on what's happening now. There have been a few things I've watched with y'all and heard you spectate and was like, huh, I didn't think of that lol. My sister is the same kind of viewer, she guesses things aloud and she's been right so often that I'm just kind of like, well damn, spoiler lmao. Anyway, I like how they started pairing off all the IFs at the end, I thought it was sweet. I laughed every time someone tripped over Keith and absolutely loved that last clip with the dad. I don't typically like when they mix animation and live action, it usually takes me out of the movie, but I really loved this plot. Overall, I think it's a beautiful movie about childhood, growing up, and never losing that whimsy or magic even as an adult. I've always been a big fan of Peter Pan's Neverland and I found this movie comforting in its message of, you're not alone and everything will be okay.
