I played the video game for this when I was a kid, it was EPIC! 🙌🏽

Talia-Brodie Francis

when i was younger the scene with the old woman and bob in the insurance company used to make me cry lol. i love this movie so much, the music is so amazing. one of my favorite parts is how the kids names correlate with their powers, jack jack being a jack of all trades with his powers was so fun. can’t wait for the next one!

The maturity of this film was amazing in the way it interwove the real-life issues of daily struggles (Family problems, relationship problems, aging problems, work problems) with the fantastical elements of superheroics. When Helen tells her kids that this isn't like the cartoons they watch on TV and the bad guys will kill them if they get the chance, we forget that this product actually IS a cartoon (so the kids really are automatically safe) because it FEELS like the danger is real. They present it with a gravitas that supersedes our knowledge that this is rated PG and therefor we know that children aren't going to die on-screen. My favorite bit of behind-the-scenes trivia is about the radio dialogue when the missiles are launched at the family. It's all "real" (Or close to it) dialogue based on the theory that she has military flying experience instead of civilian pilot training: * "VFR on top" means she is flying in the regime of Visual Flight Rules 'on top' of a cloud cover. * She requests "vectors to the initial", directions how to get to the initial landing approach. * "Angels 10" is her altitude call, ten thousand feet. This is a military term. Civilian flights use the term "flight level". * "Track east" is her direction of travel. * "Buddy spike(d)" is a U.S. military brevity code meaning "friendly anti-aircraft radar has locked on to me, (please don't shoot)". * "Transmitting in the Blind Guard" is a call on the emergency frequency where two-way communication has not been established ("I am talking but so far nobody has talked back") * "Abort" is also a military brevity code, a directive meaning "stop the action/mission/attack". That verisimilitude is part of what sells the whole film.
