You gotta remember that those were newly graduated soldiers with Eren and majority have never even seen a titan so ofc those characters wouldn't know how to handle them. Now this new group of people Ian, Rico are very experienced soldiers. And no battles. So they know how to kill the titans. The early episodes are new soldiers or military police who never saw combat like Hannis that's why he couldn't kill a titan that killed Eren's mom he knows no real combat because he is a military police not a scout. There is 3 regiments in their military. The scouts are the ones who usually the ones to kill titans

Unlike the Legend of Korra recap episode where it was narrated with new dialogue, this one is just a montage of clips of previous episodes put together.

Just remember everything is vital to the story especially when you're learning more about the characters, pay attention to everything even the stuff in the background 🫣
