EARLY ACCESS: One Piece 1x2 FULL REACTION

Greetings, everyone! It's time for One Piece. Just to be transparent, our schedule was already quite full when we decided to include this series. As for the release of our full reactions, we're taking a bit of a random approach. We'll kick things off by sharing the first two reactions, and then it'll be one at a time from there. You can expect these drops at least once a week.

We are now hooked. The flashbacks are great, we are getting invested into the characters more. Seeing more have ate the devils fruit will bring an interesting twist as we go. The end with Nami... it has our interest peaked!

Dude, why? We didn't know about that ability early on either even while people were using it! The show made a point of not explaining this because it was meant to be something they discovered later! Let them find out when the show reveals it, the same way WE did!

I've been lying on the floor laughing since 1:01:41 and the following comments from you guys...you have no idea...🤣💀

The round red thing IS his nose deformity. I imagine he was made fun of his whole life for it, so he eventually just owned it fully and became Buggy the Clown

[NON-SPOILER]: As a longtime One Piece fan they did a good job with this live action adaptation, getting the creator of One Piece (Eiichiro Oda) to have input into the live action was such a good idea. Due to the nature of live action, they may have to condense some of the "side characters" developments and make some artistic tweaks to the timing/pacing of certain parts of the storyline (or side quests) just so it fits the 8-episode season better. Still much better than having it condensed into a 2.5hr long movie. And these adjustments I find fit the story pacing really well (again thanks to Oda's handy input for that). I'm honestly really happy this live action adaptation has surpassed my initial expectations and continuing to impress me. A lot of the hoopla from some people is because they can't get over their anime only mindset. And I have to say, the goofiness, seriousness and drama, seem to stay close to the original source material and that makes me really excited and happy to see more of the live action.

I just recently heard that the Duffer Brother's (Stranger Things) will be working on a live action Death Note (series) adaptation... and oh boy you guys should keep it on your radar because if what I'm hearing is true it's going to be really faithful to the source material.

The One Piece anime is an adaption of the One Piece manga by Eiichiro Oda published in 1997 (anime aired in 1999) and both are still ongoing (1091 chapters and 1074 episodes) - I have been following One Piece for 17 years and it just never ends...luckily x)). From what I have read, for many years One Piece was the third highest grossing comic in the world, placing just above Spiderman and below Batman and Superman, but in July 2021 One Piece surpassed Batman with 490 million copies worldwide (516.6 million in 2022). It is also the most sold manga in history. I love the One Piece anime, but have mixed feelings about the live-action adaptation. I do think, however, that they did a great job bringing the story to life in a "real world" setting, and look forward to seeing your reactions. It is also nice hearing of so many people now enjoying One Piece:) While the live action is a bit darker than the anime, the story is generally very lighthearted, but as you will see it also has darker undertones tackling a lot of serious topics later on. I particularly enjoy the backstory flashbacks as they create character depth and are often very emotional. One of the reasons why One Piece is such an immensely difficult story to adapt is because Oda has created such a fantastical and amazing world with absurd characters (in the best sense), humongous creatures and incredibly imaginative settings and world-building. The further one gets the more difficult and more expensive it will be to adapt, leading a lot of people to suspect that the series will only be able to continue for a few more seasons. As for the devil fruits, every one gives you a unique power and you can only eat one. If I don't remember wrong, you die if you try eating two. If two people eat the same fruit the first who takes a bite gets the power. When you die, your fruit will appear again somewhere in the world. Devil fruits are more common in the grand line, but most people wouldn't take the risk of eating one, as very few fruits are documented and if you eat one, you might run the risk of gaining a ridiculous power while losing the ability to swim (in a world made up of Islands and a lot of water...). For example, the jacket jacket fruit allows you to become a jacket at will that other people can wear x)

Aaaaah I liked watching this with you. Can't wait for the next episode :) And Barbie. lolll I love your reactions. What I enjoy most is that, although you're 4, you never cut one another, you respect when someone is talking. I've seen other gang reactions that wreaked havoc, everyone talking at the same time, one on top the other... horrible. Respect for you, guys! See you same place, next time :) PS: you'll see way more flashbacks and backstories in the upcoming episodes :) Hope you enjoy!

Can you imagine that snail being Gary in a live action SpongeBob?

Toan Toan

They’re getting it wrong because they’re just looking up the length of the East Blue Saga ignoring the fact that s1 didn’t cover the last mini-arc.

Mister_Momus

Also, season 1 of the live action covers around 60 episodes worth of the anime

Kyle Schildroth

Red Haired Shanks does not have devil fruit powers nor can he speak to animals. He has something called Haki, which you will find out about if they continue more seasons.

Kyle Schildroth

Why does everyone get these episode numbers wrong. It's Episode 1 to 45 the last Episode is even named the same.

Just for clarification: Every Devil Fruit user has a weakness for sea water. In nature there are never 2 with the same ability. There are a lot of ways to get strong in this world and Devil Fruits are only 1 thing. If its not mentioned that someone ate a devil fruit, they probably didn't ate one. Shanks used an ability that get correctly explained around episode 450 in the anime :)

With Gol Roger proclaiming the one piece and his execution, and then, being introduced to Luffy through Alvida's crew- to here- Almost exactly as the manga and anime. They have made some changes, some would argue pretty big ones but it definitely does not detract from the plot (in my opinion) at all. Its actually refreshing to see, and adds a new spin to an already fantastic, heartfelt, action and emotional story. Great reacts, and thank you for doing this on already a tight schedule! Its nice to see new people loving and getting into One Piece so far! Don't mind being patient at all!

Nightrel

Love it when fear the walking dead gets brought up lol

Conor Moriarty

Yaaaay next episode is one of my fav straw hats Usopp 🙌🏾

Fun facts: The first chapter of the One Piece manga was published (in Japan) July 19th, 1997 when the main author (mangaka) Eiichiro Oda was 22.5. The first episode of the anime aired (in Japan) October 20th, 1999.

Mister_Momus

The anime is very goofy, but it covers a lot of serious issues. The live action lead writer Matt Owens is a huge One Piece fan, said "if you try to boil One Piece down into three elements, it makes you laugh, it makes you cry, it makes you go holy shit." -Very in character and ongoing gag for Luffy to get names wrong unless they are part of his crew. -Wanted to answer a question you had in Episode 1, but they are saying all the names correctly.

Tina

I can't give away any spoilers, but I hope there will be more seasons because there are some cool characters yet to be introduced. Anime tends to have a lot of episodes because of the extensive character development and multiple story arcs. Before getting to the main plot of One Piece, there are many storylines and characters that are introduced. I won't give my opinion on the live-action adaptation until everyone has a chance to watch it.

Arudorin

Im happily surprised by this addition, i wasn’t sure if i was going to watch this show but now i will definitely be watching with you guys 🔥

Glad you guys are doing this. And this season is the first 61 episodes of the anime which I think it 1088 episodes now. You could a side by side with the anime lol
