As physical remnants of an Angel's body grow increasingly distant to their relationship with a living entity the objectified remnants of the corpse are referred to broadly as "corpus". Culturally, corpus is often referred to by weight or volume because of the tendency to subdivide it into pieces that are no longer recognizable as complete body parts.
Living Watchers have the capacity to consume corpus to absorb the power into their bodies directly. To do so is a shocking and sinful act, but trying to exist in a hostile world sometimes means making extreme choices.
Substantial pieces of corpus are often housed in a finely crafted encasement that works to protect the flesh and focus its divine energy. These objects carry with them the highest order of power and prestige in this world. Their magical energies grant their wielder access to the strength of the Angel's power locked inside the reliquary.
Gathering corpus for churches is a dirty and dangerous job. To distance themselves from the source of these artifacts, the profession of gathering Angelic artifacts is carried out by independent relic hunters.
Relic hunters are recognizable by their extensively tattooed bodies and conspicuous collection of magical items. Existing outside both the protection and the boundaries of the law means they are extremely cautious and untrusting by nature. They are outlaws living on the fringes of society. Powerful, respected, but despised. Not unlike the Watchers themselves.
