2025-05-15 18:56:04 +0000 UTCHuskies do fine in hot weather as long as they have water. Their double coat is insulation and works both ways. Helps them stay warm in cold weather and helps them stay cool in hot weather. It’s when you shave them and ruin their coat that they have issues. While not insanely hot here and we do have freezing winters, it does get in the high 90s in the summer and my huskies will be sun bathing and refuse to come inside to the AC. I’ve seen huskies in Texas in over 100 degree weather sun bathing. You’re just used to seeing them as cold weather dogs because a lot of breeds are not equipped for that like they are. They also shed their undercoat 1-2 times per year called a blowout.
