The aggression to cuteness psychology, is the same as crying tears of joy. I’m sure I read a study on it years ago. Don’t think it’s gender specific.

2024-10-14 12:26:15 +0000 UTCI am a pathologist (the humans trained to diagnose cancer and other diseases by looking at microscopic slides like you showed with the pigeon), and pigeons being able to distinguish cancer (in that study, breast cancer) from benign tissue has been brought up in lectures about AI in pathology! The pigeon success rate was WAY higher than expected and was honestly kinda shocking. But it's kinda the same concept as teaching AI in that for both, you're basically just teaching them how to picture match and sort into categories based on images they've seen before. But very interesting stuff! Also, I did have to dissect a cat in high school anatomy class, it was really really tough but a required thing to pass the class but yeah... glad they don't do that anymore!

2024-10-13 18:53:14 +0000 UTCI am so hyped pigeons were the first!!!! I volunteer at a wildlife rehab in the Netherlands (mostly birds, sometimes bats and hedgehogs). City pigeons are my fav to rehab and handle! Sometimes we get lost pet pigeons and they are even more happy to get some pets in. Only wild wood pigeons and collared doves are stressy babies and stress me also. love pige!
