The field absorb and nullify magic manifestations, but not matter or energy. That mean a magically animated stone golem would crumble into a pile of rocks upon entering the field, but a rock thrown through the field will continue its trajectory. However if you are making the rock levitate through the field with magic, then it will fall on the ground upon entering the field. A fireball thrown will dissipate, though, because magic is what keep the fireball together as this is not how fire behave in nature, unlike rocks. A water ball would lose its cohesion and splash on the ground, but an snow ball would behave normally, even if it was created with the help of magic. In this universe the magic is a different, superior force to the fundamental forces, and can be used manipulate matter and energy at will. And the Nihallak figured how to stop it! Sorry for the wall of text lol.
