Meta-Humor / 4th Wall Jokes Feedback

Somewhere between ACE and Crystalline would be perfect. Heisenberg and Jessie were a little too much for my taste, the X-Men reference was funny and the best thing was probably the pinapple pizza controversy.

First off, just became a Patron and super excited to be a part of the community. I love all your work! Though I'm late to this discussion and I don't know the details of this project, but imo, I think there should've been a voting option for Kaori After Story. I adhere to the "less is more" philosophy. The meta-humor and references in KAS is very low key, but not entirely absent, and I think the way you executed it there was the best imo. The story is shorter, obviously, but I found myself enjoying the dialogue and conversation trees much more in KAS than in ACE or Crystalline, as everything flowed so naturally, and it also added value to the jokes/references when they did appear (like having Gingalain in there, and the VN within the VN, that was awesome). Just an opinion, but I'm sure this new project will be wonderful either way. You guys seem to put a lot of effort in what you make, and it clearly shows :)

Personally, I see the metahumor as an integral component of Pixelfade's style, and it's something I absolutely love about Pixelfade's work. It's why I contribute. And I don't respect the "inside jokes don't work for outsiders" argument, since, number one, I am an insider (even if I didn't watch Breaking Bad), and number two, I regard a reference I miss as an opportunity to learn something new. Besides, often the context can be funny even if you don't get the reference.

I think both had just the right amount fitting to their universe/story and main character and that is the important thing. Less in ACE would perhaps feel boring and more in Crystal would be over the top. I'd say it generally depends on the universe and the complete package to be coherent. And regarding ACE or Crystaline I liked them both and I also enjoyed that these series had some difference and not the same style overall because that would become monotenous.

Holy Miss Information

The hard part is that some of the meta-humour can sometimes come across less funny if you're not familiar with the source material. That extended Breaking Bad reference at one point, for example, isn't as good if you haven't seen the show (and I know most people have so it's generally a safe bet to use). So maybe just as much/more meta jokes than we're used to, just not building entire scenes around them?

Depends on the setting, I enjoyed both Crystalline and ACE, the amount of meta/4th wall references and jokes enhanced the game in my opinion. These titles had a light hearted side and I think the references were made at the right time - if that makes sense. I trust your writers will do a fantastic job as they always have!

Would prefer it to be minimal. I personally wasn't a fan of entire sections of chapters being references (e.g. Breaking Bad in Crystalline and American Idol in ACE). 4th wall/Meta is fine but the reference humour is a bit too jarring.

I think ACE humor was well balanced. It didn't spoil the gameplay, only diversified it because most of it was on good moment.

I'm with Xolf. It depends on what you do with said meta/4th wall breaking and most importantly, the timing of it all. If you keep it innocent(ish) and comical like say Neptunia, then I say shift into Turbo (points if ya get the reference :D).
