Crystalline - Minigames

Hello Patrons,

Based on feedback from the last post, we have created 4 minigames that are easy to understand and will be seamless while reading the VN but be more engaging than just QTE choices (like ACE).

This is just the rough idea of what the mini-game is, of course for the final version there would be artworks, effects, music and SFX.

Please let me know if this is a step in the right direction and any feedback you guys have, especially what sort of "art" you'd like to see over the minigames!!

Thank You,

- Dishu

Probably no hard mode since achievements will be tied into normal mode (not much of an incentive for the player to do a "hard mode" if that makes sense!).

They are not bad, although you should be make a short step by step manual for each small activity so that there might people (including me), who would know the idea behind them.

I remember the more DDR type fights in ACE and I for one admit I kinda liked how those played out. Is there a way for us to have a 4th mode where it's more challenging?

BirdmanGA

I agree with Mof these look fun especially the second one looks quite fast 😀

i love the differences in the minigames, it keeps things fresh and i can't wait to do these in the game!

I talked with our programmer about the difficulty question. So basically what we will have is 3 things: Normal Mode - This will be a benchmark for the speed for minigames and give you achievements for completing minigames in normal mode Storytelling Mode - This will be a much easier settings for minigames and WILL NOT NEGATIVELY AFFECT OR REDUCE storyline in any way, but will be ineligible for normal mode achievements. Skip Mode - Only available for Alpha Tester Backers and Patreon PFL2 / PFL3. Just like the unlock all button, you guys will have the special version of the game that lets you skip mini-games and either choose to win or lose them with a button click; same other rules as Storytelling mode. What do you guys think?

I really like the direction you are pushing them right now; however, and this may seem like a stupid question being a VN and all, would there be a way to change the difficulty of the minigames. The only reason I ask is because from my POV the point of minigames is to spice up the gameplay a little bit and add variety but if they are too easy or require limited effort then they may fail in this task. I know not all players would want them to be too difficult seeing as it is a VN nor do I know how difficult it would be to implement but I like the idea nonetheless.

They are coded as dynamic right now (so always changing) but can also he configured to be static. For the reason you mentioned, we'll most likely be keeping it dynamic!

PixelFade Studio

I like the direction yall are pushing these minigames, I just have one question. They're not static, are they? Static in that you always get the same patterns every play through. I'd hate to learn the pattern then ace all the minigames based off memory.

Looks good to me. I think it's heading in the right direction

That would... that WILL be sooo nice!

Ooh boy, those minigames look pretty cool, can't wait to see the finished version. Among them all, I have a bit of a likeness for 1 and 4 but I hope there'll be some leniency in the timing of them all. I'm sure some would like it, but it'd be crazy if you had only 2 seconds or something short like that to respond. Especially with people with slower PCs.

Eclipse Productions

This looks very good! It’ll definitely make my 3rd run interesting whenever it’s implemented! Good stuff guys!

It would be context based for sure! Like when dancing with Leanna, we could put arrows or directions to show movement versus in a fight we could have like sword swings and wind blast artworks!

PixelFade Studio

It's cool! Quite basic, but it offers a short break from the scrolling/reading/scrolling/etc. I just hope (I'm assuming yes) you'll have the minigames related to the situations in which they occur. I know it's just the rough idea of the thing, but well, as it's the only ''issue'' I have... better pointing it, as you want feedbacks ;-) Concerning the artworks... uh... maybe something more ''pixellised''...?
