D Drive Failure

Helllllo Rivans.

If you follow me on Twitter, you'll know all of this already. I thought I'd make a post for those of you who don't (you totally should follow @Gar1onriva).

Two days ago I booted up my PC and my D Drive, the drive on which I store my documents, pictures, music and all of my video work, was gone. My computer simply could not read it.

I did my best to read it, but attempts to fix the problem were taking too long (I stopped a scan looking for the drive after it had been going for 2 days and was 14% of the way there). At time of writing I have no way to access the contents of that drive. I am reaching out to a professional to assist.

LUCKILY I made a backup just last week. This is because I was planning on wiping my computer and starting fresh. I did this and it ran a lot quicker and cleaner. I was in the process of reinstalling everything when this happened.

So What Does This Mean?

Any work I did between the backup and the drive failure is currently unreachable. I currently have no reason to think it's gone forever; I've heard 1st hand accounts of drives failing and being recovered by professionals. It does mean, however, that until it's recovered, the episodes I made of  GV Pokemon Colosseum and Co-oP The Forest are unreachable.

I COULD redo the work if I need to, but that's hours of re-editing the Forest stuff and an entire Colosseum recording I'd need to redo. Doesn't sound like much, but I was very happy with how the Forest episodes came out and rerecording is never as good as the original. If possible I would rather wait and recover that work than redo it.

Hopefully I'll hear back from the professional soon, but in the mean time I need to make content. Awkwardly this happened days before a paid PokeSins was due out, but I hadn't finished that episode and I keep my script backed up. Nothing was lost on that front. Because my PokeSins schedule is more...scheduled than my other content, the next episode will be in 10/11 days as if one had gone up today. It just keeps it cleaner and easier to manage for me.

So what will I fill my channel with in the meantime?

GV Minerva's Den is still good to go, as I didn't work on that at all in the last week. I'll also fall back on other series I was planning to keep on the back bench until my move in a month or two. Not another hold-over series. I mean stuff like Top 5s and maybe even Anime Style. I don't want to start a new gaming series in the wait. First Impressions will also be able to go on as they're one-off videos anyway.

This is immense bad luck that this happened AFTER my hold-over series ended, but I guess immense GOOD luck that it happened shortly after a full backup.

I still say Sod's Law.

If you have any questions or ideas, please don't hesitate to comment. I'll continue to give little updates via Twitter, so I highly recommend following me on there or just having a look every now and then ( https://twitter.com/Gar1onriva ). You don't need to have an account to read tweets I don't think.

Thanks for reading.
