PokéSins Ep46 Postponed
Added 2016-06-12 03:58:18 +0000 UTCWhat started as just a day or two late has turned into a bit more, so I thought I'd explain why.
I've had a bit of a break from PokéSins lately for a couple of reasons, with the whole thing made possible by this Patreon's new wider focus. Mostly when I've sat down to script the episode, I've quickly realised that I'm not in the right mood for it. This sounds very washy, but because of how personal the script is (by which I mean I don't write it to any rules but my own, meaning it's a bit of an insight into my mind), I really need to be in the right frame of mind to write it well.
One thing is that I've noticed myself being a lot more sarcastic recently, and I don't want to overload the script with cynicism; a little is fine, but too much and it'd get tiresome. To a degree this ties in with my second reason, so I'll go onto that now.
I've been quite irritable for the last week or two. This stems largely from the heat here (and all the discomfort that causes) but there has been a distinct rise in the number of offensive or trolling comments I've received. I know it shouldn't bother me to the degree it does, but...it does. I get annoyed at the audacity, selfishness and downright rudeness of a lot of commenters and it means my back is still up when I come to write.
And it's not just PokéSins that's affected by this; I've noticed a generally shorter fuse when it comes to my gaming.
I handle the cold a lot better than I handle the heat. I can always put another layer on, but there are only so many I can take off, y'know?
Anyway. None of this is your problem and given how this is the start of Summer, I'm going to need to find a way to work through it. I've just been struggling to keep up with the majority of my series without adding my most intensive series on top of that.
I'm clawing my way back to the top of the pile, however, especially with Slime Rancher nearing its end. Turns out that 3 additional videos a week is a lot of extra work.
Still, I thought I'd explain my side of things so you don't think I've forgotten, got bored of PokéSins or just being generally lazy.
I appreciate your patience and understanding and I hope you take my guarantee that you'll get everything you've been promised.

2016-06-12 16:40:34 +0000 UTCIt's fine with me. The last bunch of PokéSins episodes have come out pretty quickly, we can't really complain. We would probably notice the tiredness if you insisted on making the episodes. I'm totally okay with you taking some time off, then. Take care.

2016-06-12 13:31:20 +0000 UTCHi Geran. I know I've never once participated on your updates, and you have no idea who I am because of that. But I do read your updates, though I usually never know what to say. But I appreciate you letting us know, and I do hope you're able to take care of your wellbeing. I guess that's all I wanted to say.

2016-06-12 07:38:29 +0000 UTCCan totally understand that. When it's hot here in Australia (if you ever come here, do it in our Winter and laugh at the freezing Aussies, because Summer is so fucked up), I can hardly do anything and tend to get pissed off very easily. And yeah, to be funny, you have to be in a fun mood. Thanks for being a bit personal with us as well, because we do get that, and we understand people better if we know what's bothering them or what bothers them. It helps us to be better behaved and patient with you and remind you as well, that everyone that supports you thinks you're brilliant, to the point of giving you money and some friendship. I hope things get better for you as well, I've been peed off recently because of the freezing weather and the fact I've had a minor cold, so I know where you're coming from. Sorry if I rambled on a bit, you know I tend to do that a lot. :P But yeah, take whatever measures you need to do to get your mind in the right set, and I don't care if PokeSins doesn't come out until next month, I care more about the creator than the content. :)

2016-06-12 05:25:46 +0000 UTCI do very much appreciate this letter. I have seen many times that content creators seem to drop out for reasons you describe but without explanation, so it is good to at least be forewarned about impending delays (and incidentally you used basically the same argument I used at a workplace discussion about why it is "better" to be too cold than it is to be too hot, but that's not too relevant). I personally don't mind the cynicism much, though obviously if you do and want to change it then it is fully your choice and is fine by me. It is kind of interesting to see the difference between the scripted Pokesins and the unscripted playthroughs. Perhaps you can use that in Pokesins (rewatch an episode and instead of looking for the the plusles/minuns you would get some that come to mind as you watch it naturally? Or do you already do that?)
