2024-12-17 14:54:51 +0000 UTCI work at a research university and a Hyde amendment banning federal dollars to places that do gender affirming care would be disastrous for low income trans children/people in our area. A lot of the free/sliding scale mental health services for youth are run by the social work school. If the university thinks that a program for queer kids ran by grad students would put access to NIH/NSF grants and R1 status risk, that program is getting shut down. Through small, bureaucratic ways these laws hurt trans kids.
