As another lesbian from Missouri, it feels like a lot of the ideas that the Dems have at a nation level will never reach us because state and local-level officials will not let it. Our state was the first to initiate an abolition ban after Roe was overturned. Our governor Parson chose to kill Marcellus Williams because he could. Our AG has tried multiple times to ban gender-affirming care and is trying to gain full, unredacted medical files of transgender children. A drag ban passed in a city 1hr outside of where Chappell grew up. When Harris doesn’t mention the word “trans” in her policy page it hurts, but the outcome of down ballot races can have an immediate and harder to stop harm for queer and trans Missourians.
