The rest of the guardians did and do, which is probably why Chili and the others are hearing the crowd react negatively and it's affecting them. To be fair, I do understand why the crowd is reacting this way. My guess is their perception of what makes a knight and the Tree's perception differ, plus the Tree might be compromised in some way. But the Tree is quite literally a god and a visionary, and it can be hard to see what a visionary sees
