I saw “Pacific Rim: Uprising”

Hi everyone! I haven’t written any movie opinion for a while, so I hope you’ll like this one :>

The last movie I saw in cinema was Pacific Rim 2. I was a huge fan of the first one, so I loved the idea of a sequel. And the first thing that came to my mind when the second one was ending, that this could be an awesome trilogy!

The characters are pretty likeable, and there were quite a few returning one from the first movie. Tough there were a few lose ends with past characters that were not answered. (You know, when they put a fact that looks quite important in front of you, but there is no explanation or anything. But who knows, maybe I’m the one who just loves a lot of background information.) The main character just coming from nowhere, wasn’t even mentioned in the 1st movie… And there was a certain character’s death that was just… lame.

The plot twists were pretty cool, even though you know who will fight and how, the rest was pretty unpredictable and exciting! There were a lot of great new ideas, and I was honestly very surprised how much creativity they could add to the whole humanity vs. monsters thing. There were like three time when I was like “Woow, what the hell???” when they introduced a new enemy type. So yeah, there was more than enough creativity with the enemies :D

But it’s a shame that the fighting itself is a bit weaker than it was in the 1st movie. On one hand, it’s like the Jägers were much more interesting and characteristic in that one. In this 2nd one there was much less emphasis on them. They have cool names (like “Saber Athena”) but you won’t know too much about them. And in the 1st one they utilized their environment much more than this one (I’m sure everyone remembers the scene with the Gypsy Danger and the ship :) It was just more energetic. But there are still quite a few cool scenes in the 2nd one too.

The best thing that Pacific Rim 2 continued the story pretty well, and it ended with an awesome cliffhanger, so the next one seems very exciting. I can’t wait for the 3rd one :D

So Pacific Rim 2 wasn’t as strong in fights as the 1st one, but it had a lot of cool ideas, and could show a ton of new things, and I think it was well put together. So as a sequel, it was pretty damn good! The story was very good, and I enjoyed it a lot. I hope you’ll enjoy it if you decide to watch it :)

Cheers! :D

Personally i liked everything except the very last fight. There was too much collateral damage and very little consideration for people who had not left the town. The fights before the very last one actually were pretty interesting, in that they showed something that was new each time. But the last fight was just senseless brawling with indestructible robots walking through buildings as if the buildings were made of paper and nobody ever addressed city evacuation, so it felt like every time a robot or monster drove through a building... yeah i felt that people died there in throves. For some reasons somebody even thought it would be cool to have a robot try and stop itself by slashing through a building with swords. I practically almost felt all the "nameless masses" dying in the last fight and jollyfully unaccounted for. Every other fight was in an empty area or people were very accounted for while the titans were battling, so the change of tone for the last fight was very jarring for me. But yeah, most people bashed mercilessly into this movie. I'm almost scared of saying i liked it in most occasions because people do tend to be pretty vocal about how this movie was "bad".
