Hallo friends! I have landed, had a shower, had half a glass of the deliciously home-tasting Sydney tap-water - I feel strongly I could pick Sydney tap-water out in a blind taste test.
Yes. I’m back in Australia for the next few weeks (months? Years?). Given that I won’t be doing any live work, I brought my lighting rig and tripod so I can do lot of online things. But not today. Today is for staring vaguely into the middle distance.
This is a picture of the place I’m quarantining in, because if you’re going to be in a cage for 14 days without being able to even go for a walk outside, it might as well be a gilded cage with an old vinyl record player.
This will be an interesting self experiment.
Ordinarily, I wake up and go for a walk or to the gym, and I tend to take my work breaks by walking from one place to another between libraries and cafes to do writing work.
Given that I am not very skilled at staying inside all day, or working at home for more than two hours without climbing the walls, this will be an interesting time. More meditation for sure. Probably some old school workout DVDs. Squat-jumps and lunges.
I introduced myself to my neighbours as I dragged my suitcases in, begloved and masked, and they very kindly offered to go to the shops for me if I need anything. I wonder if I can text-charm them into getting me a bubble tea one day. That’s probably too big an ask. They probably just mean “some bread”.
I’ve got Matcha, genmaicha and Milky Oolong in my suitcase, so the basics are covered,
No more thoughts for today. Just post flight hazy daze and unpacking my bags for my little lockbox adventure.
