People trail stories. Like the strands off jellyfish or guy-ropes on tents we anchor ourselves in front and behind with stories. Who we are, where we’ve come from, where we’re going. We are yanked by those stories into all of our choices, so that at times the choices aren’t really choices.
I did that thing because of who I am, or who I want to be, which is because of who I was.
We leave stories behind us when they no longer serve us. We project stories onto the people around us.
Which brings me to this delightful game that presented itself to me this morning.
Who leaves the chocolate of a kinder surprise on the front dashboard of a London Double Decker Bus? Why are they worried about the flu vaccine for kids? I want to know their stories, but I never will.
I guess I can just make them up.
