Before we begin, sincere apologies for the lack of updates this month! Our Patreon manager was out for a while, but development of Subliminal has not been stopped, don't worry. Hopefully this update is worth the wait! I think the screenshots are incredible.
Here’s what we’ve been up to:
Added in Dynamic Following Eyes for Smile: Retextured and added in dynamic player following system for Smile’s eyes. Also added in pupil constriction when Smile focuses on the player. (I personally LOVE this)
Finalized and Polished Titlescreen: Polished all animations, optimized all materials, and added a new startup sequence.
Added in Revised Interactive Intro PSA: Added in a new interactive “Empty Space” intro level, replacing the old static PSA video intro.
Implemented New Script Revisions: Replaced all VO, added in ~5 new VO scenes, and reworked 3D spacial FX for all VO.
Added new CM Maintenance Hall Area: Added in a massive section of the CM maintenance hall, accompanied by 3 new VO scripts, and a large Light Shift Puzzle.
Added in Fully Seamless BS Intro Transition: Added in the fully seamless version of the BS intro transition (TV zoom out shown in Pre-Release Trailer.)
Optimized and finalized all Memory Jumps: Added in better, seamless FX for all memory jumps, revised and finalized all SFX, and optimized all used materials and BPs.
Added in Deep Storage Expansion: Added in a rather small expansion to the Deep Storage of the Waterworks, including a short cutscene.
Started Final Audio Mastering: Started our final pass for all audio normalization and EQ.
Continued Ending Animations: Continued the remaining animations of Smile and Mime for Ending scenes. Just a few more days here!
Continued Remaining 3D & 2D assets: Continued work on the remaining few assets currently blocked out in the Prologue build. Added 3 models!
Bug fixes: Squashed ~35 various bugs in the Prologue build. Back up from our low numbers the last few weeks due to these past 2 weeks pretty big additions. We should be back down next week as we start our final bug cleanup and get ready for Playtesters!
Upcoming Focus:
Continue Main Debugging (For Prologue) Focused on Bugs from past weeks additions: Continue debugging with our main debugging team cleaning up additional bugs.
Pass on Polished Build to Playtesters: Pass off the polished Prologue build to a new team of playtesters to get rough estimates of playtimes, benchmarks, and last minute changes. (still in progress, we’ll let you know when it’s time)
