Development Update 4/17/25

What's New:

Main Debugging Progress
Our main debugging team is still hard at work, primarily focused on tracking down and fixing all remaining soft lock bugs in the Prologue build.

Upgraded to Unreal Engine 5.5
We’ve fully updated the project to Unreal Engine 5.5! This lets us take advantage of some exciting new features like Megalights, Nanite skeletal meshes, and various Lumen optimizations.

Streaming Setup Progress
Continued configuring the final streaming setup for the Prologue. This will boost performance and ensure seamless transitions between the Prologue and the full game.

DLSS 4.0 Upgrade
We’ve updated to DLSS 4.0 with Frame Generation support! This mainly affects players with 40 or 50-series Nvidia cards, but it’s a big performance win for those users.

Megalights in Waterworks
We’ve implemented a new Lumen-powered version of the Main Waterworks area using Megalights! Expect drastically improved reflections and fog quality—though it may require an RTX 3060 or better to run smoothly. Lower-end GPUs will use baked lighting here instead.

Lumen Performance Boost
Huge improvements to Lumen performance across the board, using dynamic lighting settings that adapt based on distance and occlusion, as well as newly available UE 5.5 optimizations.

Ending Animations Started
We’ve started animating Smile and [REDACTED] for the Prologue’s ending scenes. More to come soon.

3D & 2D Asset Work Begins
We’ve started creating the final 3D and 2D assets that were previously blocked out in the Prologue.

Bug Fixes
We knocked out around 24 bugs this week. The Prologue is feeling more polished by the day!
