I enjoy drawing workspaces and clutter, so panel 2 was fun. This is the lobby of St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church in Seattle. They have a bunch of mosaics inside.

Google street view was helpful for panel 1. I also had a photo of this view from the time I'd texted "whew, almost there!" from the bus.

A big part of cartooning is figuring out which details to leave out. My first instinct was to draw EVERY SKYSCRAPER, so that it's accurate! But given the space constraints, it was best to emphasize the stadium, the space needle, and the red cranes, and just get the general shape of the skyline right.

Barry and I met up at a cafe yesterday to discuss the rest of SuperButch: Issue 8!

I used the rest of the cafe-time to color some postcards of interesting buildings. I'd taken photos of these views several months ago, penciled and inked the postcards at some point, and then nearly forgot about them.
