Angel 1x1 "CITY OF..." UNCUT REACTION
Added 2025-03-04 22:00:04 +0000 UTCA damn good opening to the season of Angel. Wasn't sure how'd I feel about this show, but just ONE episode in and this has my FULL attention

Cordelia was the best person to transition from Buffy onto the Angel show. Angel by himself is brooding enough, Cordelia reminds him and the audience to laugh once in a while, her character growth is so well done

2025-03-05 08:18:31 +0000 UTCI am one of the very rare people who actually prefer Angel (show) to Buffy (show), so I'm very excited for this journey.

2025-03-05 08:17:11 +0000 UTCI really, really love Angel. I remember when I was a kid watching both shows back to back and how exciting that 2-hour block of TV was back then. I've actually rewatched Angel far more than I have Buffy. I personally resonate with pretty much all of the characters and themes of Angel more as well. I'm excited to see you on this journey.

2025-03-05 07:34:58 +0000 UTCI’ve never actually watched Angel, I’ve watched Buffy many times but never Angel. So I think I’ll watch it for the first time with you! Although I am sad this means the Buffy reactions will be slower

2025-03-05 04:15:23 +0000 UTCI've never finished Angel, so I'm going to try to finish it with these watch alongs. I have nothing bad to say about it, but I just never could get into it like I can with Buffy. I do really like Cordy though

2025-03-04 23:30:58 +0000 UTCI had heard they were trying something new with the prosthetics, and it didn't pan out like they intended. Eventually, they tame down the vampire faces so they don't look so weird. Yes, Angel is a different vibe. Where in Buffy, they started out in high school and so naturally targeted a primarily teenage/young adult audience, the Angel series has no teen growing pains and plunges directly into a darker, grittier, more adult atmosphere. Something I don't like about this series are the scene transitions. They are jarring and take me out of the story immersion! I seem to recall they eventually tame down a bit, too, but I don't think they ever fully go away. While I'm here for most of Season 1, my attention meanders too much in later seasons, and I've really only watched the entire series once, so there are things I don't remember too well. I love the characters and enjoy the overall vibe, but I find it difficult to sit through certain future story arcs.
