not to be that person once again, but Magnus'es backstory is actually a lot worse in the books. I assume they changed it to make it less graphic and suitable for a TV show, but his mother hung herself and months later Magnus killed his stepfather in self defense. He tried to kill Magnus, specifically he tried to drown him in a lake. Magnus nearly unconscious, grabbed his step father and set him on fire. Also that man was abusive and he used to hire religious people to 'get the demon out of him', so I think he deserved it.

2024-07-06 14:31:00 +0000 UTCSimon and Alec had the same problem. Their love for their best friend is so deep, that they confuse it with romantic love. They were too young to know the difference and it set in their minds. Now that Alec has Magnus, he understands the difference and it makes for an easier relationship with Jace. Shadowhunters cannot be encantoed, only mundanes. It's the sweetest scene between Alec and Magnus. They both have my heart. Maybe now that Magnus told Alec, he might be able to process the memory of his mom better.
