Pausing our Patreon
Added 2018-09-28 15:14:48 +0000 UTCHey everyone! Cryo here. (or Mary..however you know me)
Just wanted to let you know that we'll be pausing our Patreon for a month, maybe 2, or until I feel like I'm good to run it again - all this means is that you won't get charged at the end of this month and onwards until we're back!
I feel like these past few months it's been really difficult for me to keep things up with all things Drugs & Wires, and I feel like it's unfair to keep charging our supporters and not deliver on all the things I should deliver. I don't want our Patreon to be a donation platform - i want people to get their money's worth of content and a reason to come back for more.
I will keep drawing the main comic regardless, but it might still be somewhat irregular for the time being. I've got a move to Ireland coming up, some potential pro comic work, and to be honest my mental health has not been the best for quite some time now - I figured not having to worry about delivering to our loyal paying fans might alleviate some of my anxieties. As much as I'd love to do more updates and BPA and extra content, it's not really feasible at the moment and I just need to get better first.
Aside from all that i think taking a little break is a good opportunity to either reshuffle our Patreon rewards or even look into other funding options! We have recently been invited to join Drip, a platform similar to Patreon run by Kickstarter and pioneered by Iron Spike earlier in the year. Anyone with a Kickstarter account can automatically join in as a supporter - let me know if you have any thoughts on this, or any experience using Drip as a supporter or content creator.
For anyone still wanting to donate and support D&W in the meantime, I do have a ko-fi account that even supports recurrent payments - this is another alternative to patreon if we decide to move, but in the meantime I won't be offering any extras through it.
Thank you so much for all your generous support so far. I say this a lot, but this comic would not have been possible without our fans and I'm so grateful we made it this far. Here's hoping we'll be back with all sorts of cool things! There's no shortage of plans for D&W and I can't wait to get back to 100% to work on them.

2018-09-28 15:45:17 +0000 UTCThanks :) I've taken hiatuses before, but at least this time people won't have to pay for them! So i won't feel as gulty :'D
2018-09-28 15:37:31 +0000 UTCAh yeah, I'm with you on this one - I didn't like that whole "yeah just dump Patreon, EASY" attitude even though realistically you can't just move hundreds of patrons to a different platform like that - and even if you could, drip was only open to the chosen few! and still is :/ Having said that, business is business, and if Drip has some benefits Patreon doesn't i'll be happy to move. Just need to do more research on that.
